Fugger and Welser museum

This multimedia book installation was developed on behalf of the Fugger and Welser Erlebnismuseum. Here Jakob Fugger »the Rich« and Bartholomew V. Welser come to life and tell their story. In the foyer of the museum the book gives an overview and lures the visitor into the house.

Particularly exciting is the transformation of a historical painting from the Maximilian Museum (“Winterbild”) into a lively scenery. The people depicted on the town hall square move, talk to each other, trade is conducted, children play and even a thunderstorm is brewing.

The viewer gets an unusual insight into the Augsburg Renaissance. This interactive book also serves as a special kind of guest book guest book: visitors can leave their comments on the museum in a multimedia format.

In this Living Book, actors slip into the roles of Fugger and Welser, who report from their time and the events of the early modern era. The exciting thing about it: illustrations turn into real people.
